Senior Project Manager - Electrical-AEROSPACE

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL

Essential Functions:

  • Establishes the overall program plan from bid to project closeout to include integrated cost, schedule and technical scope baseline for the program. Plan should be executable and meet contract requirements.
  • Responsible for providing the engineering ETC/EAC for the project.
  • Develops the project resource demand and works with engineering managers and chief engineer to provide staffing and manage gaps & impact.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages an executable engineering schedule, integrated across disciplines, which represents the contract scope.
  • Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Assesses engineering project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring engineering project progress and enables intervention and problem solving with engineering project managers, line managers, and customers.
  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
  • Establishes, and adheres to, a process to manage changes to the contract baseline in order to optimize program performance and profitability. 
  • Provides program ownership of both functional (SE, ME, EE, SW, etc.) and domain understanding to assess maturity of work products created by program team.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
  • Conduct design reviews internally and with the customer
  • Coordinate preparation of work breakdown structures, task descriptions, basis of estimates and other resources required to perform cost estimating.
  • Support new business opportunities related to the product.
  • Adhere to Quality Systems Manual and applicable Standard Work Instructions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical discipline and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with best practices for project engineering and program execution
  • Experience in Communication Transceiver Equipment Design
  • Experience in managing multi-discipline programs across multiple locations, including manufacturing and procurement
  • Experience with Statements of work (SOW), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), MS Project Schedules
  • Ability to implement and adapt project execution plans that will achieve technical, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Experience in working multiple projects concurrently and be extremely reliable
  • Experience leading Government Contract development programs.
  • Experience with program pursuit and proposal activities.
  • Possession of a Secret Security Clearance. 
  • Work closely with Program Manager and Chief System Engineers
