This position provides support and analysis to accurately estimate material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements submitted by a prospective customer.

Essential Functions:

  • Issue and administer Requests for Quotes/Proposals (RFQ/RFP) for materials required for the manufacturing of electronic components and systems
  • Analyzes and interprets RFQ/RFP requirements for estimating material costs
  • Evaluate historical purchase prices and pricing trends
  • Create material estimating strategies that minimize the impact of minimum buys and qualification charges to individual proposals
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support internal reviews, customer/government audits and fact-finding/negotiations
  • Ensure material estimates are aligned with strategic supplier relationships and supplier capabilities
  • Incorporate/create efficiencies, automation and templates that will add value to the current materials estimating process
  • Implement and drive metrics for operational excellence
  • Interpret Operational processes, practices, and procedures
  • Interpret Contract Terms & Conditions to ensure compliance
  • Exercise independent judgment under limited supervision


  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Prior Purchasing experience
  • Understanding of CPSR cost/price analysis
  • APICS education or certification
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance, if needed
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration
  • Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated continuous improvement skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills
