Our client looking for a dynamic Finance and Accounting Analyst with a proven track record of strong financial modeling and successful business partnering to support the finance organization. This position will perform various cost accounting and finance tasks and work both independently and as a team player with the ability to analyze data thoroughly and effectively. SAP and Six Sigma, Lean or another Continuous Improvement methodology experience is a definite plus. This position is located at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA.


Key Responsibilities:  

    Responsible for various aspects of project accounting, including monthly customer invoices and progress billings. 
    Prepare EACs and analysis for various programs. 
    Prepare journal entries for month-end close to ensure timely and accurate monthly closing of the financial records. 
    Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring balances tie to underlying support and investigate/resovle any reconciling items. 
    Prepare reports for budget to actual department cost variance analysis. Assist Site finance accounting and Group reporting functions with various financial reporting activities, including weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and analyses and miscellaneous accounting activities.
    Develop various financial models. Support other Ad Hoc projects as needed.


Basic Qualifications: 

Knowledge and Skills Required: 

    A four year degree with two years of experience, a two year degree with seven years of experience or a high school diploma with ten years of experience.
    Experience with financial modeling. 
    Solid knowledge of GAAP principles including experience working with fundamental accounting principles such as accruals, capitalization, and depreciation. 
    3-6 years in accounting and or finance position with meaningful experience in cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and cost variance analysis. 

    This position require access to export controlled information.


Preferred Qualifications Include: 

    Strong analytical and communication skills (written and oral). 
    Advanced Excel skills. 
    Experience in manufacturing preferred. 
    Ability to plan and manage daily tasks, meet deadlines, analyze, provide results, and recommend solutions to various levels of management including being proactive, and innovative in solving problems and issues.
    Experience in the aerospace industry



    Coordinates the collection, auditing and coding of sales, cost of sales and backlog data.
    Prepares cost of sales journal entries exercising individual judgment to properly assign non‑standard costs to period revenues.
    Authors and issues product cost books highlighting marginal products, cost/ profit trends and changes as well as other salient statistics.
    Compiles A&T labor efficiency statistics and distributes report explaining variances from standard.
    Isolates, investigates and communicates detail supporting major actual vs. budget direct cost and sales variances from plan.
    Reconciles work‑in‑process inventory accounts with amounts shown on avail­ability tapes and monitors the validity of non‑standard inventory through a review of open job orders.
    Monitors the PN system, issuing follow‑up requests to assure proper authoriza­tions, management attention to overruns, timely closings, etc.
    Schedules, supervises and audits the work of the cost clerk.
    Maintains historical financial records and files.
    Assists in the development and preparation of annual operating plans.
    Works on special projects as directed by the Cost Supervisor, Aerospace Controller, and Controls Group V.P. ‑ Controller.
    Acts as the key advisor to the Aero-Group Controller in new systems implementa­tion, both with EDP and the IFPS system purchased from Execucom.
    Assists the Controls Group V.P. and Controller in customer/government "fact finding" and government post award reviews.
