Systems Integration Lab Manager
The Systems Integration Lab Manager is responsible for the planning, development, build and operational management of a Vehicle Systems Integration Lab (VSIL). The incumbent is the principal interface between the VSIL and Engineering Projects in support of all test and integration activities. Provides leadership and assistance to Laboratory Engineers and technicians working under their direction, in addition, would provide support for the design, fabrication, follow‑up, and debugging of support test equipment. They will have responsibility for soliciting interests from key stakeholders from the Vehicle, Sub-system Technology and Business leadership to define the needs of the lab environment.
As a Systems Integration Lab Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:
Define and build the Vehicle Systems Integration Lab facilities and capabilities plus equipment, people and technical resources
Own the day-to-day activities and infrastructure of the lab, providing status of assigned work, schedule, forecasting work, budget, completion and any significant financial issues
Collaborate on Capital and Expenditure planning activities
Work actively with Program Management and Engineering in Work Package planning and with Engineering teams in executing the tests to verify the systems architecture and interfaces of the vehicle systems.
Define System Integration Lab procedures and acceptance test approach
Work with design teams to develop state of the art testing methods and what this means for system/product designs
Develop way to faster test systems and support external suppliers to define and develop test approaches
Develop faster reliability testing approaches for the business
Develop the direct reporting staff to better support the current and future business needs
Accountable to manage the Environmental, Health and Safety of the area and staff.
Support system certification and develop approaches (sometimes with partners) for this
Here's what you'll need to be considered for this exciting opportunity:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with 10 years’ relevant technical experience OR Master of Science degree in Engineering with 6 years’ relevant technical experience.
Have significant experience in lab design, and operations management
High voltage experience in a lab setting and associated safety training
Understanding of Energy Storage Systems, Electric Motors and Power Electronics, Vehicle Perception Systems, Communication Systems (CANBUS), Vehicle Powertrains
Self-motivation, critical thinking, and strong analytical skills.
Demonstrated strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
