Reporting to the site Operations Manager, and functionally to the Operational Excellence Manager, this position is responsible for overall leadership and management of motor control center cell assembly, including cells for structures, aftermarket cells and wire harness and completion. Through the use of continuous improvement and lean principles, as well as employee engagement and development, the cell assembly manager will drive year-over-year improvements in the areas of safety, quality, schedule, and productivity.
In this function you will:
Drive a zero-incident safety culture through work station risk assessments, behavioral based safety programs, employee safety improvement idea program participation, 5S and other related processes.
Participate in and drive quality improvement processes such as root cause problem solving and internal defect identification.
Provide input into Operations strategic plans and execute on the cell assembly strategic plan. This includes labor skill development and flexing, equipment optimizing, and other processes that facilitate the achievement of on-time-performance and labor productivity targets during order volume fluctuation.
Partner with the Operational Excellence team to lead all lean and continuous improvement initiatives including Rapid Improvement Events (RIE), employee improvement idea program participation, value stream mapping, visual controls, error proofing and automation within department.
Cultivate an engaged workforce through employee involvement programs, coaching and frequent performance feedback, recognition, team and business communications, training and development.
This role typically supervises one or more production supervisors as well as assembly technicians.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
Minimum three (3) years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience supervising and/or leading others.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering/Technology from an accredited institution.
Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
Experience in developing and implementing advanced manufacturing processes and technologies such as automation, simulation, digital production control and tracking, virtual and/or video training programs, etc.
Previous role/experience managing others including other supervisors and/or large groups of employees.
Working knowledge of manufacturing procedures/practices including Industrial Engineering principles, production planning and Lean/Six Sigma.
Experience in ISO certified manufacturing assembly environment.
Proficient in driving Quality Control and Inventory Control.
Proven Leadership skills – capable of leading change initiatives and drive a high-performance culture.
Able to travel on occasion (less than 10%) to other sites for learning and adoption of best practices in manufacturing.
