FINISH CARPENTRY FOREMAN

MINNEAPOLIS, MN

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.

Leadership

  • Assign work to employees, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback
  • Address work quality issues, employee conflict, & other concerns in an effective & timely manner
  • Ensure employees follow company policies & administer corrective action when necessary
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with employees and provide bi-yearly reviews
  • Create project timelines & schedules in order to meet deadlines proposed by Construction Manager
  • Regularly inspect work to ensure it conforms to specifications
  • Be available to team to answer questions, train, mentor, and provide guidance on projects
  • Provide regular updates to Superintendent or Construction Manager
  • Stay current on safety standards and procedures, communicate to team, & ensure compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of all work done by the project team
  • Monitor project continuously in order to foresee potential issues and problem solve immediately
  • Analyze blueprints & drawings to determine structural dimensions of framework to be constructed
  • Examine building materials to identify any defects

General

  • Operate and care for construction equipment and machines
  • Erect temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists
  • Assist other trades when necessary
  • Ex. Equipment Operators, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting
  • Ensure team has secured job site, tools, and materials at end of each day

Finish Work

  • Accurately measure, cut, and shape lumber, wood, and other building materials
  • Examine building materials to identify any defects
  • Set door frames, doors, and hardware
  • Install windows & patio doors
  • Install interior millwork including case base, and stair rails
  • Installation of cabinetry
  • Install flooring
  • Install appliances and other equipment
  • Install mirrors, shower bars, décor, and other finishing touches

Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ year experience leading carpentry crews for larger commercial projects
  • Skilled at reading and interpreting architectural plans, specifications, & construction documents
  • Familiar with and able to read building and accessibility code
  • Proficient in using tools such as saws, sanders, drills, planers, etc.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50-75 pounds as needed
  • Comfortable with ladders & heights

  • Must work well in a team environment yet be able to work independently when necessary
  • Ability to respond to continually changing priorities and working on multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/EQUIPMENT USED, IF APPLICABLE

  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with proper insurance
