SENIOR UNIX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

DALLAS, TX

    This Senior UNIX Systems Administrator role is in the Enterprise Operations Department of the IT Division at the company. This role will provide Technical Solutions, Advanced Administration/Troubleshooting and operational excellence in a complex Unix/VMware environment comprised mostly of virtual Servers.     Impact:
        Responsible for and expected to 24x7 administering, configuring, solving problems and supporting Unix servers in production and non-production environments running Unix operating Systems namely Solaris and RedHat Linux.
        Protect production by exercising sound judgment and following operational practices and procedures
        Writing and managing scripts and utilities to automate day to day systems administration and configuration management tasks.
        Assist with the monitoring performance analysis of existing applications and ensuring that the system is consistent with ongoing need.
        Write technical documentation, operational procedures, systems documentation and Incident and problem communications and reporting.
        Quickly restore service during system outages, provide troubleshooting support to team members, perform proactive problem prevention, and advance technical details to technical lead and/or to vendor support.
    Your Impact: 
        Excellent knowledge of and experience with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system, system configuration, and administration.
        Work on production related issues. Providing resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems. Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable.
        Identify, analyze, fix, and determine root cause, follow-up and coordinate changes to resolve complex problems involving hardware, software, networking and applications.
        Be part of the team for on-call rotation and weekend activities as required
        Write and manage scripts and utilities to automate day to day systems administration and configuration management tasks.
        Strong UNIX scripting (ksh), Java, Perl, Python
        Solid experience with automation.
        Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies
        Continually defines ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
        Provide resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems; Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable.
        Coordination with Technical Services lines to ensure implementation of standard methodologies for infrastructure governance, architecture, engineering, production support and service Management.
        Lead & Provide support for systems administration, configuration, solving problems in multiple UNIX Platforms.
        Cloud Experience (AWS)
        In-depth knowledge of standard methodologies around Unix/AWS/VMware/Storage/Backup
        Performing regular health checks on environments
        Checking status of environments and individual tools
        Running scripted health checks
        Perform tasks related to persistent volumes and user access. Good knowledge of the core service needed for the application (ex: TAM, AD, DB, CMDB, Monitoring etc.) We create Proof of Concepts (POCs) for our Innovation Lab to illustrate how cutting-edge technology can be incorporated and enhance our company's technology offerings

    Qualifications:
        A Bachelors degree (Computer Science, Engineering, IT, related field) with 7-8 years or 10-15 years of equivalent work experience.
        Applicants with 2-5 years of experience in AWS/RHEL Scripting/ VMware/Blade Logic/ Ansible are highly sort.
        Experience in UNIX Server hardware and Software problem determination, capacity planning, and root cause analysis.
        Hands-on experience designing and implementing systems across disparate technologies.
        Experience with scripting tools to automate routine operation tasks.
        Expert knowledge of technical project management, project implementation, infrastructure engineering.
        Sophisticated skill in communications and leading teams in a highly matrixed environment
        Experience with scripting tools to automate routine operation tasks.
        Experience in championing change and effectively managing project/program implementation
        Documenting Engineering Solutions and Designs
