The primary purpose of the Server Administrator is the planning and designing of server infrastructure solutions; troubleshooting, installing, implementing and administering systems and providing Tier III support. He/she maintains the functionality and performance of the server infrastructure through routine maintenance, implementation of performance enhancements, analyzing capacity problems and developing capacity planning models. The Server Administrator works under the direction of the Lead Server Administrator, and/or the Manager of IT Technical Services, and maintains a current knowledge base with respect to related server technology. Also provides general direction to junior Server Administrators.Essential Functions:Works safely by following all safety rules and safe work practices. Conducts short and long-term planning to meet server requirements. 
Assesses server performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides server planning recommendations to management. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves server problems. Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any server deficiencies or to enhance server performance. Ensures planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met. Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changes. 
Education, Certifications and Experience:
Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field. At least 7 years of experience in Information Technology, maintaining Windows Servers in an Active Directory environment, or two full years of education directly related to the work of the position, with at least four years of work experience. Experience with VOIP telephone systems preferred. Experience in risk analysis and abatement, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred. Microsoft, compTIA and Cyber Security certifications preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job:Knowledge of:IT infrastructure system monitoring and management tools in an enterprise environment. 
System security implementation. MS Office products (proficient). Computer network switching and routing concepts, and technology. Terminal services application hosting and management. Enterprise Resource Plannings systems. Working knowledge is preferred. IT industry cybersecurity standards and best practices. Skilled in:Windows server management. Microsoft Active Directory management. VMware virtualization platform. Enterprise Network Attached Storage system management and connectivity protocols. Excellent verbal and written communication. 
Act as the Lead Server Administrator in his/her absence. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and user community. Handle a high volume of work. Perform effectively under pressure. Solve problems in straight-forward situations; analyze possible solutions using technical experience, judgment and precedent. Work effectively alone or in a team environment.
