The Director - Marketing Excellence is responsible for building marketing functional capability within the CMO organization in the areas of brand strategy, marketing strategy, brand architecture and other foundational marketing areas. This role requires strong partnership with executives and senior leaders within the CMO organization and across functions.
• Lead the development of consistent, scalable and repeatable approaches to brand strategy and its core elements. These may include, but are not limited to business strategy, marketing strategy, positioning, product truth and brand architecture with its related elements.
• Lead implementation of Brand Strategy Model. Partner with brand leaders in the Development, Brand & Product Management and Publishing teams to create and align on differentiated brand strategies that drive consistent long-term growth for our franchise brands.
• Partner with Brand team to ensure consistent and meaningful application of Brand choices within franchise brand strategies.
• Partner with internal resources to build frameworks, tools training materials and dashboards that facilitate team adoption of strategy and capabilities.
• Facilitate strategy development and action planning discussions with senior Marketing, Development and other functional business leaders.
• Partner with Player Journey core team to ensure strong implementation of Player Journey thinking and action throughout: Facilitate change management by building awareness, educating and partnering with businesses to understand the value of the Player Journey. Actively listen to stakeholders to understand concerns/business issues, demonstrate flexibility in perspective and willingness to adapt.
• Build strategic relationships and collaborate directly with Product Marketing and Development leaders to create and take action against Player Journey initiatives.
• Partner with manager and HR lead to build and execute CMO People Strategy that positions us as the place where Marketers want to build their careers.
Required Skills and Experience
• 7+ years of marketing leadership, ideally across multiple marketing disciplines
• Demonstrated understanding and experience leading brands and applying foundational marketing frameworks.
• Experience leading / managing an operating business / marketing functional area and implementing strategic and capability initiatives at the operating level.
• Effective listener- asks probing questions and can alter approach and perspective through influence
• Demonstrated ability to partner and communicate effectively across functions.
• Critical thinker with the ability to leverage multiple data sources and strategic inputs to build stories that influence executives and other senior leaders to act.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively and efficiently use PowerPoint and other presentation tools.
• Strong analytics and problem solving skills. Proactive and creative approach to always find the truth behind the numbers.
• B.A/B.S degree in Business, Strategy, Economics or related field; Advanced degree (MBA or similar) preferred.
• Experience with interactive games or other entertainment businesses a plus.
