Operations Accountant 4 (Rail Analyst)-Canada Entities

Rail and accounting industry position responsible for Canadian tax and accounting matters within Rail Revenue area including monthly analytics, senior management reporting, and various other functions.

Essential Job Duties:
•Responsible for addressing and resolving Canadian GST/HST/QST/PST issues, tax withholding issues, customs/importation issues, foreign exchange matters, and filing required documents with the appropriate Canadian tax-reporting entities.
•Analyzes and reviews Canadian lease-in structure and tax accounting data for accuracy and investigates discrepancies.
•Handles various Canadian audit requests.
•Handles various Canadian survey requests.
•Prepares accounting information for Canadian payroll or other monthly Canadian activities.
•Maintains job-related policies and procedures, SOX narratives and testing, and ensures compliance with all related policies.
•Evaluates and handles complex internal or external customer requests.

They are accoun for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required:
•4+ years of accounting experience, operational accounting experience, or a combination of both

Fluent (oral and written) in French.
•Legal, tax, and accounting experience in the rail industry, particularly with Canadian matters.
•Experience reviewing, administering, and filing Canadian tax documents.
•3+ years of tax and accounting experience with Canadian entities.
•3+ years of experience reconciling large amounts of accounting and tax data.
•3+ years of data analysis and reporting experience, preferably in the rail industry.
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
•Strong proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word, including experience extracting data from databases to create Pivot Tables.
•3+ years of experience working with various Oracle Financials modules.
•Respond promptly to internal and external requests.
•Meet established deadlines
