Challenge
The team is seeking a hands-on Sr. Software Engineer who is passionate to combine hardware and software by programming to vendor API’s and the Appliance application software. Responsibilities will include working closely with the Hardware engineering team, Product management and other Appliance Scrum teams to bring new product offerings to the market. You will work with our hardware vendors and bridge the gap between hardware design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.
Responsibilities
  • Your background in storage systems, capability to understand firmware, Kernel and applications software will drive Proof of Concept (POC) of multiple World’s First backup appliances that will shape the future of backup storage. You will get opportunity to lead investigations of potential technological investment targets for the office of CTO.
  • You will participate in decisions about HW Design (Backup Appliance) that affect software
  • You will work with System and Automation Test teams to drive HW diagnostics test development, Performance Testing and Optimization. You will work with OEM partners to tune HW to best suit our workloads
  • Strives daily to increase the code coverage numbers for test code
  • Able to work in various layers of the software stack
  • Participates in peer reviews
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment
  • Communicate and collaborate among cross-functional teams in a multinational environment
  • Lead or participate in a scrum team to continuously improve
  • Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and demos
Requirements:
  • 5+ years’ experience with in-depth knowledge of the required programming languages (Python and C required.  GoLang is a plus)
  • Excellent software engineering skills are a must, as you’ll be working with some of the best in the industry
  • Experience programming on Linux platform
  • Experience with Perl or scripting languages a plus
  • Interest and comfort interfacing with firmware/hardware, although you will be developing purely at the application level of the stack
  • Good debug/problem-solving and organizational skills
  • A fast learner and self-starter with intellectual horsepower
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent working in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies including unit testing, test-driven development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing is a plus
  • Experience of developing REST based web services is a plus
  • Knowledge of databases, SQL, Networking and Storage a plus
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure design a plus
  • Experience with continuous software delivery model is a plus
