POSITION SUMMARY:
The CFO is a strategic partner to the President and the company’s Strategic Planning Team, responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and other regulatory and advisory organizations, as well as in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry. This position is responsible for strategizing, planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating the organization's fiscal function and performance. This position is located at Novato, CA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  
Planning
 
    • Involved in the formulation of the strategic direction of the business and the tactical plans, budgeting systems and metrics required to achieve specific direction.
    • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long term planning, introduction of new programs, strategies and regulatory action.
 
    • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances acquisitions and/or mergers and pension funds and investments.
Analyzing
 
 
    • Develop credibility for the finance team by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends to assist the President, the Board of Directors and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
 
Efficiencies
 
    • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of            systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
    • Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group, as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities of individuals.
 
Financial
 
  • ·       Oversee the formulation of the annual budget and communicate expectations to other departments. Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting departments budgets. 
  •        Compile financial information into financial statements, and the presentation of this information to various internal and external recipients, such as the President and the Board of Directors. 
 
  • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance financial position.
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Provide financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline, and those needing guidance within Strategic Planning Team and Board of Directors.
  • Review and act upon the findings and recommendations of internal and external auditors.
Operations
 
  • ·       Develop a system of performance metrics that support the company’s strategic direction of its operations.
  • ·       Financial oversight of other departments, as well as coordinating financially driven operations within those departments.
  •  
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board of Directors as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
  • Implement operational best practices throughout his/her areas of responsibility.
Relationship Management
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers, such as employees at all levels, banks, customers, analysts, attorneys, etc.
  • Become an effective team player within the company’s Strategic Planning Team.
Risk Management
·       Understand the current and potential risks to which the business is subjected and taking effective steps to proactively mitigate those risks. Report on risk issues to the President/Board of Directors.
 
  • Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any legal contracts into which the corporation may enter.
  • Ensure that the business complies with all regulatory and other legal requirements.
  • Monitor known legal issues involving the company, as well as legal issues impacting the entire industry. 
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Controller, the Finance Manager and the indirect supervision of all ministers in the accounting and finance department.
POSITION TYPE
This is a full-time position.
 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required with over 15 years of progressive experience in the accounting/finance field
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Master’s in Business Administration or related field
