Our client has an immediate opening for a Tool and Equipment Category Manager.  The Tool & Equipment Category Manager will report to the T&E Category Director, within Head Quarters in Indianapolis, IN.  Primary responsibilities include performing product category reviews, developing and marketing a competitive Tools & Equipment (T&E) program for a nationally recognized automotive aftermarket leader.  Duties include identifying the appropriate products and branding strategies, catalog creation, and sales plan coordination with our customers’ leadership teams and sales forces.  The duties listed should not be considered all inclusive. 
 Primary Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement new products for distribution while coordinating the new product introduction and communicating this information to retailers and the Sales Team.
  • Assist in Special event coordination (trade shows, marketing incentive programs, etc.)
  • Develop and implement strategic plans that support the key objectives defined by the organization.
  • Must operate cross-functionally with Product Sourcing, Sales, Finance, IT, and Marketing departments to help transform the sales and market share growth.
  • Participate in Sales Meetings as required.
  • Assist with the design of product catalogs (electronic and hard copy) which will include the layout, grouping, order, images, charts, etc.
  • Must be the category expert to identify market leaders, trends, customer retention, etc. for particular product while conducting ongoing research on new and upcoming items that exceed customers’ wants and expectations.
  • Must have thorough knowledge and skillset of small hand tools while understanding market needs for customers within this demand.
  • Set and meet KPI objectives and targets for sales, profit and turnover.
  • Manage product relationship by acting as the liaison while negotiating the needs for space, promotions, new programs, etc.
  • Arrange for samples to be sent to and approved through merchandising centers and travel where necessary to be sure displays are set accordingly.
  • Must be the face of the product – continuous store visits, work with Regional Sales Managers/Sourcing Managers on special pricing requests.
  • Must be able to assist customers as needed in resolving issues that may arise.
     
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Category Management or related field such as purchasing/marketing/sales.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong presentation/sales skills a must.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiating and planning skills a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Must be accountable and take ownership of assignments while following through on initiatives.
  • Proven project leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple initiatives that have significant financial impact.
  • Results driven with a desire to work in a fast paced environment; equally adept at providing leadership as well as working side by side with team.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial modeling.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
